I recently read a deep blog article on housing affordability. The article ultimately advocates relaxing the zoning policy in NYC and SF and goes through many policy rabbit holes such as Georgism. Some of its sources deserve an analysis in their own right.

The complementarity between cities and skills is a 2009 NBER research article linking city size and productivity for the "right kind" of city. Authors E Glaesser and M Resseger hail from Harvard and Boston University and were well placed to observe the gentrification of the Boston MSA.
